Mathias Bengtsson was born in Denmark and following his graduation from the Danish design school, Copenhagen, he joined the Royal College of Art Furniture -Industrial design in 1998. Each slice has a unique profile much like a giant butterfly of varying size. A process of optimising the cutting pattern of the sheets then follows to reduce the off-cuts to a minimum. The cut sheets are stacked and attached one upon each other to create the 3d form from the flat 2 D sheets. Slice takes two dimensional material to make a three dimensionel form.
