Glass chair (1976) by Shino Kuramata, this chair symbolizes the arrival of new techniques to bond sheets of glass. The transparent adhesive Photobond 100 greatly expanded the possible uses for Plexiglas and glass and resulted in some startling creations. Althought the chair is perfectly functional, there is an air of unrelliable weightlessness. Its tense, cool qualities combine with an underlying fear of the chair's fragility.
