Marc Newson is one of the most influential designers of his generation. Born in Sydney Australia in 1963, he studied sculpture and jewellery, and has since worked as an industrial designer from his own studios in Sydney, Tokyo, Paris and London. His projects range from restaurants and a recording studio, to a concept car and private jet; and his work has been exhibited everywhere from the Museum of Modern Art in New York and London's Design Museum, to the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris.

"I set up a tent to work in on a little terrace by my London flat. It was horrendous, one of those freezing cold British winters and I had to make sure the temperature didn't drop below 10 degrees or the fibreglass would have stayed wet forever. I had to get out a hairdryer and blow it into the tent to keep it warm.
London 1987. Aluminium and fibreglass.
